Opera Appreciation sessions continue, connected to the HD Metropolitan Opera series at Kirland Cinemas:
Ernani by the great 19th C Italian opera composer, Giuseppe Verdi, based on a play by Victor Hugo
The Enchanted Island (based on Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream and The Tempest) to music of various composers from the Baroque period
Manon by that wonderful French opera composer of Parisian Belle Époque, Jules Massenet, based on the same novel used by Puccini in his version (Manon Lescault) of the story.
La Traviata by Verdi, one of the most famous and beloved of all operas based on the novel/play 'La Dame aux Camélias' by Alexandre Dumas, fils
All sessions take place on Saturday mornings from 9:30-11:00 at Union Church, either in Adair Hall or the Sanctuary. Cost $15 per session.
